Carolyn Giles Marksberry, age 55, of Owenton, passed away Friday, May 18th at the University of KY Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born November 28, 1956, in Owenton, she was the daughter of the late Garrett L. Giles and preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Wayne Marksberry and her brother, David Lynn Giles. Carolyn had worked in the restaurant business all her life and had owned many restaurants, including, Scoopy Doo and Lakeview in Owenton, The Churchill in Carrollton and Bun Boy and C.E's Place in Warsaw. She was also a member of the Paint Lick Baptist Church. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Liddie "Granny" and James Jackson of New Liberty; her sons, Garrett (Cindy) Giles, Jeremy (Kristen) Shields of Owenton and Joshua (Kathy) Shields of Ghent; her daughter, Paula Creech; four step daughters, Kim Walls of Pennsylvania, Terri (Mike) Crowe of Ft. Mitchell, Melissa (Jay) Meyers of Elsmere; and Shannon (Mike) Ginn of Owenton; three sisters, Lydia Hansen, Nanny Jump and Sandy Courtney all of Owenton; four grandchildren, Jensen Shields, Brandon Webster, Steven and Sterling Hammond; a great grandchild, A.J. Webster, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23 at 1pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding.
