Caroline Scott Smith

Caroline Scott Smith, age 77, of the Poplar Grove community, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

Caroline was born April 17, 1944, in Kenton County, to the late Emmett Coleman and Jessie Foster Adkins Scott. She was the widow of James Alvin Smith who preceded her in death in February of 2020. Caroline retired from Owen County School System as an instructional aide. In her retired life, she worked as a clerk and tour guide at the Kentucky Speedway and cooked at the Sparta BP. She will be remembered as a selfless confidant who was always thinking of others and someone who was easy to spend time with. She was the embodiment of a caregiver and was always full of laughter.  She was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church where she served as a past church clerk and kept the books for the cemetery.

Caroline was loved by all and will be missed by her devoted daughter, Ann Christine Smith as well as a host of in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in the Poplar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Brian Richards officiating. Please meet at the Main Street location at 10 am to follow the procession to the cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove Cemetery Fund.
