Carl Stewart

Carl Stewart, age 80 of Owenton passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington. Born January 16, 1931, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Alton and Betty Stewart. Mr. Stewart was retired from the Commonwealth of KY in the Department of Finance as a Maintenance Superintendent. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church, the Owenton/Owen County Volunteer Fire Department and was a former Deputy Sheriff. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Osborne Stewart; his son, John Stewart; his daughter Carla Combs; two brothers, Lenden Stewart and Ron Stewart; his sister, Athelene Glore; two grandchildren, Liz Hopkins and Kaylan Vannarsdall and one great granddaughter, Emily Riddle. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday December 30th, from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery with Tom Olds and Bro. Tom Hall presiding. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association; Poplar Grove Baptist Church or the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department.
