Buddy James Gibson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Buddy James Gibson, a radiant spirit whose indelible mark on those who knew him will be cherished forever. Buddy was born on January 28, 2012, and his vibrant life was tragically cut short on March 6, 2026. He was just 14 years old.

Buddy possessed a pure and adventurous soul, embracing the outdoor world with enthusiasm. He found joy in the simplest pleasures of life: from fishing to collecting rocks that caught his eye, every experience was an opportunity for wonder. His laughter could light up a room, especially when he would sing, often with a joyful shout of love for his favorite artist, Jellyroll.

One memory that will forever bring a smile to those who knew him was Buddy's playful response when approached by strangers in stores. To the common greeting of "what's up, buddy?" he would quizzically reply, "How do you know my name?", which was always followed by a hug. This innocent charm captured his delightful personality—the unsuspecting humor that followed him wherever he went.

Buddy leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his mother, Nichole Gibson; his cherished sisters, Destiny McFadden and Faith McFadden; his devoted brothers, Jason Lunsford and Connor Lunsford; and his beloved grandmother, Chardale Hammond. He will also be missed by his great grandparents, Charlotte and Buddy Gibson, and Alma Perkins, as well as his grandmother, Karen Lunsford.

Buddy was predeceased by his father, Anthony Lunsford; his grandfather, Lee Lunsford; and his great grandfather, JV Perkins, all of whom welcomed him with open arms in the peace of the afterlife.

A visitation in honor of Buddy will be held on March 12, 2026, at New Funeral Homes in Owenton, Kentucky, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
