***Due to the water situation in Owenton, the location has been changed to Monterey Baptist Church*** Bobby C. Atha, age 80 of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his residence. Born May 30, 1933 in Monterey, he was the son of the late Washington and Nola New Atha. Also preceding him in death were his children, Vicki and Harvey Atha and his grandson Jarrod O'Connell. Bobby was a retired from Ancient Age Distillery where he was a carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, the Monterey Baptist Church and attended Swallowfield Baptist Church. He also served his country in the United States Air Force. Bob was well known for his love of bluegrass music, he played the guitar, loved attending bluegrass festivals and singing novelty songs. He also made sure this love of bluegrass music was passed to his children who play and sing as well. Surviving are his wife, Janis Rhodes Atha; his sons, Wesley (wife Dale) Atha of Frankfort, Dennis Atha of Monterey and John Atha of Frankfort; his sister, Viola Hayden Johnson; his grandchildren, Janis, Dixie, Carl and Monya and his great grandchildren, Tori, Liam, Aiden and Ryland. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the MONTEREY BAPTIST CHURCH on Friday, January 10th from 11am until 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. Larry Gaines presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery.
