Billy Howard Duncan, age 74, of Owenton, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 24, 2022.
Billy was born in Frankfort, KY, to the late Raymond Howard and Mary Kathleen Kincaid Duncan and was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, David, and Larry Duncan. He was a member of Lusby's Mill Baptist Church and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Branch Manager within the Cabinet for Human Resources. Billy loved his family above all, he went by many names in the role he cherished as a grandfather, "Dad", "Pawpaw", and "Popeye". He was a talented golfer and was never happier than catching fish with his brothers and friends on the lake. He enjoyed annual fishing trips to Guntersville, Lake Fork, Granada, Lake Barkley, and Kentucky Lake as well as countless hours on Elk Lake. His home was always open to family and friends and he was always there for them.
He will be missed by his devoted wife of over 55 years, Mary Kay Roberts Duncan; his children, Rae Gina (Cheyenne) Beatty and Billy Howard "B.J." (Niki Vaughan) Duncan, Jr.; his grandchildren, Katy Stewart, Austin Duncan, Bobby Duncan, Blake Duncan, Greyson Beatty, and Meleah Beatty; his great-grandchildren, Presley, Gunner, and Sawyer Kate Stewart; his siblings, Jerry Duncan, Kathy Riley, and Johnny Duncan; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with Bro. Ken McCain presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice.
