Betty Mason Wright

Betty Carol Mason Wright, age 88, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2020, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born August 7, 1932, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Margaret Works Mason and the widow of Charles Wright.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Walter Mason and Dana Brumfield.  Betty was a longtime member of South Fork Baptist Church where she played the piano until last year. She began her working career at Farm Services where she served for 20years, went on to work with Dr. Bowling for another 18 years, before retiring from the Maurice Bowling Middle School where she served delicious meals in the cafeteria.  In her retirement, she worked in the deli at Meadowview for several years.  She enjoyed regular Friday night outings to eat with her family and will be remembered for her gardening skill and ability to grow magnificent flowers. She also enjoyed being "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty will be missed by her children, Jeff (Oletta) Wright and Jackie (Marlin) Webster; her grandchildren, Staci (Johnnie) Burke and Wesley Yancey; her great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Blake, Madison, Haleigh, and Wyatt; her siblings, Delbert Mason and Linda Owens; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Monday, March 29, 2021, from 4 - 8 pm for a pass-thru visitation.  Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral services, with limited seating, will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 1 pm. with Bro. Roger Alford and Bro. Nicholas Green presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to South Fork Baptist Church, Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice, or a charity of choice.
