Betty Jo Slaughter Wainscott

Betty Jo was born on April 25th, 1941 in a small house on the Old New Liberty Road and died on February 19, 2025, at age 83.

She was married to Harold "Ronnie" Wainscott for 51 years and lived in the house they designed, built, and loved near Long Ridge since 1975. Her creativity and artistic talent were evident in their home filled with paintings, drawings, crafts, and furniture built by her and Harold. The daughter of Marvin and Evelyn White Slaughter spent her early years on their nearby farm, along with her older brother, friend, and protector Marvin Ray. She loved sweets and was a wonderful cook, taught by her mother and grandmothers. She sorely missed her daughter Lori Taylor Powers after her untimely death at the age of 49, and it haunted the rest of her days.

Harold, her son Don Taylor (Anne), and stepson Barry Wainscott (Susan) are thankful that she is finally at peace.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location for visitation on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from Noon until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm led by Bro. Roger Alford. Those wishing to honor Betty Jo's memory are encouraged to make a donation to Kentucky Educational Television, Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice, or Long Ridge Baptist Church.
