Bessie Bishop

Bessie Bishop, age 85, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the Owenton Center.

Bessie Bishop was born in Grant County, KY on January, 31, 1936 to the late Alexander Dezarn and Cleo Hyden Patrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Howard Bishop Jr.; her step mother Vivian Dezarn; her step father Russel Patrick; her siblings, Charles Dezarn, Freddie Dezarn, Bertie Dezarn, Elmer Dezarn; her daughter, Letha Lowe; and her grandson Drew Mason. Bessie was a devoted member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  She was a retired grocer for Save-way as well as co-owned the A&A Foodmart with her husband Howard. She spent a-lot of time fishing, playing cards and gardening. She could spend her days doing needlework and spending time with her friends and family.

She will be missed by her children; Lucinda (Ricky) Wilhoite, Randy Bishop, Luci (Steve) Grubb; her grandchildren, Kendra Wilhoite, Brad (Cretia) Wilhoite, Tim Hadden, Lauren (Andrew) Gilbert, Logan (Emily) Lowe, Lindsey (Tylor) Herndon, Michael Grubb, as well as her great-grandchildren Blake Gilbert, Carson Gilbert, Kash Wilhoite.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Dallasburg Baptist Church on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 4 pm to 8 pm for a pass through visitation. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11 am with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 3 pm in the Owenton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers are suggested to the Drew Mason Memorial Scholarship Fund.
