Bennie Higgs

December 23, 1944 — July 2, 2024

Benjamin "Bennie" Haskell Higgs, age 79, of Lawrenceburg, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Born December 23, 1944, in Mitchell, Indiana, he was the son of the late Haskell and Carrie Burton Higgs.  His siblings, Ray, George, David, and Darlene also preceded him in death. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Bennie was a Hilltop Church of God member and a talented stone mason whose work can be found all around the area. He enjoyed being outdoors and could often be found fishing, tinkering in his building, or working in his garden. He was also a voracious reader who enjoyed Western novels.

Bennie will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Evalena Shuler Higgs; his loving children, Sarah (Mike) Curd and Ben (Maxine) Higgs; grandchildren, Heather Conway, Adam Curd, and Christine Higgs; and his siblings, David and Shirley.

New Funeral Homes have been entrusted with arrangements.  Family will receive friends for visitation, at the Main Street location, on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Don Carter officiating.  Bennie will be laid to rest in the Owenton Cemetery with Military Honors.
