Ben L. Lykins, age 83, of Danville and formerly of Perry Park, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Born June 7, 1939, in Washington County, KY, he was the son of the late C. Boyd and Addie Ann Devine Lykins. Ben was preceded in death by his two wives, Linda Crane Lykins and Diana Loveless Lykins. He graduated from Harrodsburg High School and continued his education at LSU Banking School of the South. He served his country in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He served Owen County in many capacities including Rotary President, Owen Countian of the Year, a member of the KY River Authority, and retired as President/CEO of First Farmers Bank. He was also awarded Installment Loan Officer of the Year. Ben believed in hard work, he helped build his own home, did his own landscaping, and passed those traits to his children. He loved boating, traveling, and watching UK Sports.
Ben will be missed by his children, Stacey (Aaron) Salamon, Deana L. Lykins, and D. Chance (Callie Shane) Lykins; his grandchildren, Adeline Crane Lillo, Luke Lillo, and Bryn Salamon; his brother, James Robert (Betty) Lykins; and his sister-in-law, Kay Lykins.
New Funeral homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 11 am until 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with burial in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Owen County Parks and Recreation.
