Born March 18, 1926, in Henry County, KY, he was the son of the late Minnice and Martha Dees Downey. He was the widower of Madeline Jo Frost Downey and was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Ann Downey and his siblings, Curt Downey and Elizabeth Pinkston. A.W. enjoyed bass fishing and watching U.K. Basketball.
He is survived by his children, Larry (Sherry) Downey and Kathi (Noel) True; his grandchildren, Debbie (Jason) Colston, Crystal (Billy) Harmon and Ashley (Chris) Maston. Five great grandchildren also survive, Cordell, Chloe, Christopher, Brianna and Zaiden.
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. Everett Hawkins presiding. Burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey Cemetery.
