Arvin D. Prather

Arvin D. Prather, 81, of Owenton, passed away on October 10, 2026, at Grant Healthcare and Rehab.

Born on June 17, 1945, in Owen County, Arvin was the son of Wilton and Alice Green Prather. A devoted member of Hesler Assembly of God, he married his cherished wife, Connie Howard, on June 26, 1964. Arvin had a fulfilling career as a mechanic at Georgia Pacific (formerly Dixie). He also farmed, raising tobacco and cattle, and his family received recognition in 1997 with the Farm Family Pride Award. In his leisure time, Arvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping with family.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, his children Kim (Rob) Morrison and Scott (Valerie) Prather, and his beloved grandsons Adam Gilbert, Aaron Gilbert, Andrew Gilbert, Jordan Prather, and Jared Prather, as well as great-grandchildren Blake, Carson, Adley, Austin, Kelson, and Khloe. His siblings Don (Judy) Prather, Loretta (Ralph) Mason, and Charlene Hansche also survive him.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 11 am until 2 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier and Pastor, Dylan Wainscott officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Contributions in Arvin's memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
