Anna Viola Lawson

Anna Viola Lawson, age 84, of Sparta, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the home of her daughter.

Born November 14, 1935 in Van Buren, IN, she was the daughter of the late Hershel and Anna Lee Bowman and the widow of Arvilee Lawson.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Sears; her siblings, Erma Cochran, Colleen Copp, Mary Banter, John and Howard Bowman. Anna was a retired cook for the Jonesville Rest Home and prior to that worked for the Owenton Manor.  Along with her family, she ran a dairy farm for many years. Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church but enjoyed visiting Mt. Pleasant and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Churches. She enjoyed music and singing gospel and country music.  Most of all, she loved her family, family gatherings, cooking and spending time with children.

Anna is survived by her children, Lisa Wilhoite, Randy Lawson, Jeff Lawson and Billy Lawson; her grandchildren, Christina Hensley, James Sears, Jessie Strome, Daniel, Micah, Tyler and Spencer Lawson, and Dustin "Cooter" Lawson; and ten great grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Private burial will take place on Saturday and a gathering of family and friends will follow at a later date.  Memorial contributions in honor of Ann's life may be made to any of her favorite churches, Macedonia Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church or Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
