Ann Shirley Burks

Ann Shirley Burks, age 75, of Kettering, OH and recently of Owenton, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born June 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William and Shirley Hager Tanksley and was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lisa Marie Burks and her sister, Linda Humphrey. Ann was a surgical technician for over 50 years, retiring from Kettering Medical Center in 2008. She was also an honorary member of the Owenton First Christian Church. Surviving are her sister, Mary (Jerry) Walton of Arlington, TX; her brothers, Kenny (Berna) Tanksley and George (Dorothy Jean) Tanksley both of Owenton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers will be Steve Wilmoth, Matt and Mike Tanksley, Ryan Bader, Alvin Tankersley, Rod Ellis and Jerry Walton. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Tuesday, July 30th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday with Bro. Greg Guy presiding. Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owenton First Christian Church.
