Alice Florence Poe

Alice Florence Poe, 82, of Owenton, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Green Valley Nursing Home in Carrollton. Born July 8, 1926, in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Bessie Mae Osbourne Parker and was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Poe, two brothers, Leslie and Roy Parker and one sister Lou Ballard. Mrs. Poe was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by her son Rick Poe; her daughter, Marlene Poe Mason both of Owenton; four grandchildren, Ricky Poe Jr., William Ray Souder, Michaela Jean Poe and Alicia Roach and one great granddaughter, Ursula Diana Souder. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes where family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, January 29 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11am with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier and Bro. Ken Collins officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Greenup Fork Baptist Church or Jonesville Baptist Church.
