Alice Lynne Marksberry died December 6, 2017 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 53 years of age. Alice is preceded in death by her niece, Shelby Victoria Waldner. She is survived by her parents, Roy Clark and Nila Marksberry of Pleasant Home and two siblings, Steven Marksberry (Amy),Waiphu, HI and Louann Waldner (Dan) of Dinuba, CA and six nieces and nephews: Lillian, Morgan Alice, Mason, Ryan, Callie and Jinny. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to count. Alice was a graduate of the University of Kentucky (UK) with both Master and Bachelor’s degrees. As a Library Science master’s student, she began working as a librarian at the UK Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER). She eventually became full-time at CAER and worked there 23 years, most recently as Webmaster/Event Coordinator where she and her colleagues coordinated an annual international research conference for 1000 researchers from across the globe. Alice loved her church, family and work and was equally dedicated to all three. She was the coordinator of all family reunions, work functions, and church events. She served as a VBS coordinator, children’s church coordinator, song leader and general librarian/historian for her church, family and work. She had a talent of bringing people together and lived to serve others in all that she did. There will be a public viewing for friends and family at the McDonald New Funeral Home on Seminary Street in Owenton from on Sunday, December 10th from 3pm to 8 pm. On Monday, December 11, 2017, the 2 p.m. service will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pleasant Home with the procession to the cemetery to immediately follow. Alice will be interred at the Owenton Cemetery in the Marksberry family plot. In remembrance of Alice and her love of the church, donations in her name can be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
